It is the company that operates public transportation in Venice. This primarily includes the <a href=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/en\/wasserbusse\/\">Water buses <\/a>(<a href=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/en\/vaporetto\/venedig-actv-die-vaporetti\/\">Vaporetto<\/a>, plural: vaporetti), Venice's new streetcar on <a href=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/en\/venedig-piazzale-roma\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"2771\">Piazzale Roma<\/a> and the buses from Venice to the mainland. It travels the entire length of the Grand Canal. This line is used both for arriving and departing, as well as for sightseeing along the Grand Canal. But there\u2019s a much better way to do that: we recommend the Grand Panorama Tour. This photo of the Grand Canal was taken at dawn in October. You can still see the light fog that rolled in overnight. Venice is especially romantic at this time, and not just for photographers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:55px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Important Line 2<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" src=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Linie2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-108\" srcset=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Linie2.jpg 800w, https:\/\/venedig.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Linie2-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/venedig.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Linie2-768x513.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anyone driving their car in the <a href=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/en\/venedig-die-parkinsel-tronchetto\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1823\">Tronchetto Parking Garage<\/a> or at the parking garages at the <a href=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/en\/venedig-piazzale-roma\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"2771\">Piazzale Roma<\/a> turns off, the <a href=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/en\/vaporetto\/venedig-actv-die-wichtige-linie-2\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"2066\">Line 2<\/a> through the Grand Canal to get to Venice. It travels at the same speed as Line 1, but does NOT stop at every Grand Canal stop. This means you\u2019ll get to your lodging faster on Line 2. Line 1 also runs through the Grand Canal, but only as far as the <a href=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/en\/venedig-piazzale-roma\/\">Piazzale Roma<\/a> and not all the way to the parking garage <a href=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/en\/venedig-die-parkinsel-tronchetto\/\">Tronchetto<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:55px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Important Sections 4.1 and 4.2<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" src=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Linie41.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-111\" srcset=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Linie41.jpg 800w, https:\/\/venedig.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Linie41-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/venedig.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Linie41-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These black-and-white boats are slightly smaller than the ACTV vaporetti on Lines 1 and 2. They also carry fewer passengers and are used to travel from Venice to the neighboring island <a href=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/en\/murano-2\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1657\">Murano <\/a>to drive back and forth every now and then.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:55px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Take Line 14 to Burano and Punta Sabbioni<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" src=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Linie14.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-113\" style=\"width:804px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Linie14.jpg 800w, https:\/\/venedig.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Linie14-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/venedig.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Linie14-768x513.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Day-trippers from the Adriatic coast (Grado, Lignano, Bibione, Caorle, Jesolo) are starting to leave <a href=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/en\/vaporetto\/venedig-actv-von-punta-sabbioni-nach-venedig\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"2103\">Punta Sabbioni<\/a> the Line 14 or 15 boat to the <a href=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/en\/venedig-sehenswuerdigkeiten-der-markusplatz\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"2133\">St. Mark's Square<\/a>. Line 14 runs from St. Mark's Square to the <a href=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/en\/der-lido-von-venedig\/\">Lido<\/a>, via Punta Sabbioni and Tre Porti to <a href=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/en\/venedig-sehenswuerdigkeiten-burano\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"2236\">Burano <\/a>and back again. This type of boat is so large that it can accommodate 1,200 passengers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:55px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Ferry Car Ferry<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" src=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Faehre.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-115\" srcset=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Faehre.jpg 800w, https:\/\/venedig.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Faehre-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/venedig.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Faehre-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The car ferry that runs continuously between the <a href=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/en\/venedig-die-parkinsel-tronchetto\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1823\">Tronchetto Parking Garage<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/en\/der-lido-von-venedig\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1615\">Lido <\/a>goes back and forth is also part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/en\/wasserbusse\/\">ACTV<\/a>. You can also take the ferry with your car without a transfer. It's especially popular among photographers who want to take panoramic pictures of the Venice skyline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:55px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The People Mover<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" src=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/PeopleMover.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-117\" srcset=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/PeopleMover.jpg 800w, https:\/\/venedig.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/PeopleMover-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/venedig.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/PeopleMover-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The People Mover constantly shuttles back and forth between the <a href=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/en\/venedig-piazzale-roma\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"2771\">Piazzale Roma<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/en\/venedig-die-parkinsel-tronchetto\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1823\">Tronchetto Parking Garage<\/a> Back and forth with a stop at the cruise ship terminal. It is also part of the ACTV system. The fare is \u20ac1.50 per person per ride and is included in the ACTV ticket. (As of 2026). They are used to travel from Venice to the eastern part of the Veneto region (Jesolo, Caorle, Bibione, etc.). Important exception: ATVO buses also run from the <a href=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/en\/venedig-flughafen-marco-polo\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"2817\">Marco Polo Airport<\/a> all the way to Venice to the <a href=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/en\/venedig-piazzale-roma\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"2771\">Piazzale Roma<\/a>. There is an additional charge for these. Price: \u20ac12.00 for a one-way trip and \u20ac22.00 for a round trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:55px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">AliLaguna<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/AliLaguna.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-120\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The yellow boats of the <a href=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/en\/airport-transfer\/alilaguna-bootstransfer\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1935\">Alilaguna<\/a>. These boats shuttle between various locations in Venice and the <a href=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/en\/venedig-flughafen-marco-polo\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"2817\">Marco Polo Airport<\/a> Back and forth. Although the bus is operated by ACTV, you have to pay extra for this trip. Multi-day tickets are NOT valid on this bus line. The price: \u20ac10.00 for a one-way trip and \u20ac18.00 for a round trip. (As of 2026).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:55px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bus Route 11 on the Lido<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" src=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/ACTV-Linie11.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-124\" srcset=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/ACTV-Linie11.jpg 800w, https:\/\/venedig.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/ACTV-Linie11-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/venedig.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/ACTV-Linie11-768x513.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most visitors to Venice use only the water buses (<a href=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/en\/vaporetto\/venedig-actv-die-vaporetti\/\">Vaporetti<\/a>) within the city or for trips to <a href=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/en\/murano-2\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1657\">Murano <\/a>or <a href=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/en\/venedig-sehenswuerdigkeiten-burano\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"2236\">Burano<\/a>. The route to Chioggia is an exception: On this route, you first take Line 1 to the <a href=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/en\/der-lido-von-venedig\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1615\">Lido<\/a> and transfer directly to the No. 11 bus at the S.M.E. stop, which continues on to Pellestrina and <a href=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/en\/chioggia\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1248\">Chioggia <\/a>drives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:55px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Current ACTV Fares \u2013 2026<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-global-color-8-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-1\">Note: Do NOT pay any processing fees!<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" src=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Vaporetto.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-127\" srcset=\"https:\/\/venedig.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Vaporetto.jpg 800w, https:\/\/venedig.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Vaporetto-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/venedig.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Vaporetto-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A one-way trip costs \u20ac9.50. The trip should take no longer than 75 minutes to reach your destination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The prices for multi-day tickets are:<\/strong><br>24-hour ticket = \u20ac25.00.<br>2-day ticket = \u20ac35.00.<br>3-day ticket = 45.00 \u20ac.<br>7-day ticket = 65.00 \u20ac.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 24-hour ticket is valid on the Italian railway system, Trenitalia (but only within the Venice metropolitan area).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The following applies to all multi-day tickets:<br><strong>The validity period begins when the first trip is validated.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can purchase all ACTV tickets online at this link. <br><strong>You pay NO processing fees.
