Entrance Fee for Venice 2027:
The 2026 test phase is over!

On Sunday, July 27, 2026, this year’s trial period for the Venice access fee (Contributo di Accesso) will end. For the remainder of 2026, Venice can once again be visited on any day without prior registration or payment of a daily fee.
What will happen in 2027?
The exact rules for the coming year have not yet been finalized. Experience has shown that the city council typically makes such decisions only shortly before the start of the new season. One thing is already certain, however: Even in 2027, a flat fee will not be charged starting January 1, but—if the system continues—will again be charged only on selected peak days in the spring and summer.

The Venice Biennale Continues to Have a Solid Financial Foundation

First, the good news for all art, culture, and Biennale enthusiasts: The Biennale will continue uninterrupted and remain fully open, as the Fondazione La Biennale di Venezia stands on an exceptionally stable financial foundation.
In recent weeks, reports about the discussions surrounding EU funding totaling 2 million euros have occasionally caused some uncertainty. However, a close look at the foundation administration’s official budget clearly shows that the Biennale’s day-to-day operations, as well as its high-profile exhibitions and festivals, are in no way at risk.
Entry to Venice – What are the current rules for 2026?

The good news: The admission price in 2026 will once again be 5.00 euros per day.
The Good News: Something that’s rarely mentioned in the media: Admission is free on most weekdays! With just three minor exceptions, there’s no admission fee on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Admission is only required if you visit Venice on Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays.
In addition, there are numerous exceptions. For example, all visitors who have booked accommodations in Venice are exempt from paying the admission fee.
Important Note: Visitors to Venice who have booked accommodations in Venice must also apply for an exemption:

Whether you land at the airport, arrive by car, or take a boat across the Adriatic Sea, getting to your accommodations requires careful planning.

Our Daily Dose of „La Dolce Vita“
Dear Venice Lovers, while the mainstream media often focuses only on problems, noise, and sensational headlines, we at the Venice Guides are taking a different approach. We believe the world already has enough bad news. That’s why, starting now, we’re focusing exclusively on what we love so much about this city: the positive stories, the little miracles, and the unique „good vibe.“.
We’ll spare you reports about every little stumble along the canal bank or the daily dose of sensationalism. If someone falls into the water while taking a selfie, that’s not a major event to us—it’s simply a minor slip-up. We want to be your voice for all things beautiful—honest, consistent, and always with a smile. Because we are convinced that this serves the city's true connoisseurs much better.
Bye-bye, from the Venice Guide Team
Thank goodness: No more lines at St. Mark's Basilica

Yes, thank goodness. The never-ending drama with the huge lines at the entrance to St. Mark’s Basilica is over—hopefully for good. As of July 1, 2025, anyone who wants to enter the basilica must order tickets in advance online. And when placing this online order, each visitor must specify a date and time in 30-minute intervals. You must strictly adhere to this appointment; otherwise, your ticket will be void.
