The Campanile—or Campanile di San Marco, to be precise—is the tallest tower in Venice. The tower is 98.6 meters high. For centuries, it has guided sailors on their way home.
The Tallest Tower in Venice

A church tower standing freestanding next to the church

The word "campanile" refers to a church tower that stands freestanding next to the church and is not integrated into the church building. The Italian word "campana" means "church bell.".
Line in front of the register

Taking the elevator up to the observation deck is a popular destination for all tourists visiting Venice. There's usually a line in front of the ticket office. The wait time is about 30 minutes.
Loggetta

The entrance to the tower is in the loggetta. The word "loggetta" means "small loggia." And a loggia is an interior space that opens onto the outdoors through arches and the like.
Popular Seating Spots for Tourists

Starting around noon, when the first tourists start to get tired, the seating area at the Loggetta becomes a popular spot for a quick break. Only very early in the morning—as shown here in the photo—are there no tourists yet.
„Skip the Line“

During the summer season, the tower is open from 8:30 Clock Open until 7:15 p.m. Admission is €10.00. Please purchase a „Skip the Line“ ticket. That way, you can enter the tower without having to wait in long lines.
