St. Mark's Basilica with no wait:
A special tip for connoisseurs
St. Mark’s Basilica is the heart of Venice, but a visit can often be exhausting for seniors. New rules have been in effect since mid-2025: Anyone who books a regular ticket (€10) is bound to a strict 30-minute time slot. Anyone who arrives too early or too late will be denied entry. In addition, visitors are often quickly guided through the dim interior of the basilica via a sort of „one-way system“—making it nearly impossible to leisurely admire the mosaics while standing and walking.

But there is a dignified and far more beautiful way to experience the basilica in all its splendor. Find out here how to enter St. Mark’s Basilica without paying an admission fee or waiting in line.
Enjoy Venice on the Go:
The Panoramic Walk at the Lido
While short-term visitors often try to „tackle“ Venice in just a few hours, seniors have a precious commodity: time. Venice offers the perfect setting to invest that time in their own health.

Our tip: From Lido S.M.E. to San Nicolò. Away from the crowds of tourists at St. Mark’s Square, there’s a place of open space and tranquility: the Lido. Learn all about the scenic walk along the Lido.
Accessible Venice

Every unfamiliar city poses a special challenge for people with disabilities. This is especially true of Venice, with its numerous canals and 400 bridges. Although these bridges are neither high nor steep, they still present an obstacle. If you’re interested, please read our pages on Accessible Venice.

An evening you'll never forget: Vivaldi in San Vidal

Every stage of life has its own music. While my grandchildren (ages 7 and 9) sing along passionately to „Weihnachtsbäckerei“ at Christmas, our musical tastes change almost imperceptibly over the course of our lives. Today, we often seek something enduring, quality, and genuine passion.
If you ask me what you absolutely must see in Venice besides St. Mark's Square and the Rialto Bridge, my answer is clear: A concert by the „Interpreti Veneziani.“.
For me personally, this visit is an absolute highlight of every trip to Venice. And I’m not alone in this—we „older folks“ in particular really appreciate this experience.
My absolute hidden gem: the Ombra del Leone terrace

You won't believe it: Just a few steps from St. Mark's Square is a true oasis of tranquility. It’s a small but very charming café, right on the Grand Canal—and yet completely underrated, since it’s a bit off the beaten path.
Believe me: I struggled for a long time with whether I should even share this insider tip about Venice.
