Enjoy Venice on the Go: The Panoramic Walk on the Lido

While short-term visitors often try to „tackle“ Venice in just a few hours, seniors have a precious commodity: time. Venice offers the perfect setting to invest that time in their own health.

The Golden Rule for Your Vitality

The legendary sports medicine specialist Dr. Müller-Wohlfahrt (the longtime „Bayern Doc“) keeps emphasizing: Exercise is the number one rule for good health. In Venice, this doesn't mean climbing stairs on the bridges, but rather walking mindfully in an environment that invigorates the spirit. We've selected a route for you that combines physical well-being with the most beautiful view in the world.

Our tip: From Lido S.M.E. to San Nicolò

Away from the crowds of tourists at St. Mark's Square, there is a place of open space and tranquility: the Lido.

  1. Getting There: Take the vaporetto to the stop Lido S.M.E. (Santa Maria Elisabetta).
  2. The Route: From there, walk about one kilometer north along the lagoon to the bus stop San Nicolò.
  3. The Experience: The path is completely flat, making it ideal for a safe stroll. To the left, the water of the lagoon glistens, and the silhouette of Venice looms on the horizon. The salty air and the steady pace are a treat for the heart and circulation.

Relaxation on the Water: The Trip to Tronchetto

After your walk, you've earned a break. From the San Nicolò stop, you'll have a special opportunity:

  • Take advantage of the Ferry (Line 17) toward Park Island Tronchetto.
  • Our advice: Just sit back and enjoy the crossing and the return trip. It’s like a little private cruise. You’ll be sitting comfortably, relaxing, and taking in the city from a perspective that most visitors never get to see.
The Line 17 Ferry

The photo shows the view from the Line 17 ferry to Venice. You'll love it!! The ferry is the best „photo platform“ for taking impressive pictures of Venice.

Here's how easy the tour is

Although the ferry is primarily intended for transporting cars and trucks between the mainland and the Lido, it is, of course, also open to pedestrians with a regular ticket. The departure point at Lido San Nicolo is ideal for this photo excursion.

Shuttle service

A ferry always departs from both the Lido and Tronchetto Park Island at the same time. The two boats meet exactly halfway, near the island of San Giorgio, where the monastery is located.
