Marco Polo Airport on the site map

The plan is from https://www.OpenStreetMap.org © OpenStreetMap contributors.
As you can see on the map here, Marco Polo Airport is located on the mainland to the north of the city. This means you’ll need an airport transfer to Venice. The 15 km is probably too far to walk. The airport in Treviso is even farther away. Read our dedicated page on this topic: The Airport in Treviso
The Airfield

Marco Polo Airport is the third-largest airport in Italy. Even so, it will seem manageable to you. It has been renovated and modernized in recent years. The departure hall is now on the first floor, and arrivals are on the ground floor. Since you’ll likely not be spending much time in the airport building after your arrival, we’ll focus here primarily on the transfer to Venice.
Airport Transfer
For the transfer from Marco Polo Airport We've created a separate page here on Venedig.com dedicated to Venice. That's why you'll find only a brief list of the 6 options here.
- The fastest—and therefore also the most expensive—way to get there is by private water taxi:
30 minutes and about 160 €. - Option 2: The shuttle service also takes the express water taxi, but waits at the airport for additional passengers. 40–60 minutes and €36.00.
- The yellow boats of the Alilaguna Take a boat ride across the lagoon to Murano, Lido, and various stops in Venice. 60–90 minutes, €18.00.
- Line 5 of the public transit system ACTV takes you to Venice via land. Line 5 stops at various stops on the mainland along the way. 35 minutes and €10.00
- The luxury buses of the ATVO You can also travel to Venice by land. However, these buses do NOT stop at any other stops along the way, unlike the ACTV Line 5 runs.
25 minutes, €12.00. - A street taxi will take you to Venice by land. 20 minutes, €40.00.
Note: In our experience, there are always plenty of available street taxis waiting. You should book all other types of transportation in advance and online. This applies especially to options 1 and 2, which involve a water taxi.
High-Speed Water Taxi

If you have reserved a private water taxi in advance online, the taxi will be waiting for you upon your arrival and will depart for Venice immediately after you board, taking you right to your hotel or any other destination in the city. After checking out, take the stairs, escalator, or elevator to the first floor. There you’ll find moving walkways that will take you from the checkout area to the water taxi terminal in 7 minutes. It’s very well signposted, so you’ll have no trouble finding your way.
Shuttle Service

Yes, it's the same situation as with a private water taxi. After all, it's the same type of boat. Only the terms are different. The shuttle service waits at the airport until several guests have boarded. If you’re lucky, it’ll leave right after you get on. If you’re unlucky, you’ll have to wait up to 30–40 minutes. Once you arrive in Venice, the shuttle service drops off its guests as close to your hotel as possible. If you’re lucky, you’ll be the first passengers to disembark; if you’re unlucky, you’ll take a short tour through the city’s narrow canals. Be sure to book in advance and online; otherwise, you may easily be turned away.
The yellow boats of Alilaguna

Alilaguna's routes operate on a fixed schedule, departing every 30 minutes from Marco Polo Airport to Murano, Lido and Venice.
