The Process

The boarding point is right in the heart of Venice, just a few steps from St. Mark's Square, or near the Rialto Bridge. Several gondoliers have formed a consortium here.

After boarding, you'll first need to get your bearings in the gondola.
You'll see for yourself that the whole thing is a bit of a shaky business.
Which way is front and which way is back?
Where is the gondolier?
That's why, after boarding, the ride first takes you through quiet, romantic canals right in the heart of Venice. You can start by enjoying the peaceful, dreamy gondola ride together at your own leisure.

Now here comes the big surprise!

Suddenly, the gondola turns left and heads straight toward a small bridge. There’s a banner hanging there with the message you chose. Now the moment of surprise has arrived. Now your wife or husband will see the banner with your personalized message.

Of course, we'll hang the banner for you. Please coordinate the wording with us in advance.

The Grand Canal and its „O Sole Mio“

A short time later, the gondola turns into the Grand Canal. Behind you is the famous Rialto Bridge, and ahead of you, the setting sun is reflected in the water. Can you imagine anything more beautiful? You find yourself wishing that time would stand still right now and that the gondola ride would never end. By the way: Venice’s civil registry office is located here on the left bank of the canal.

With a little luck, there will be another gondola with music and a singer ahead of or behind you. You can hear him singing „O Sole Mio,“ „Volare,“ or „Che sara“ from far away through the canals. Of course, you can also book music and a singer for your own gondola. Almost anything you can imagine is possible.

Optimal Timing

The timing of the gondola ride is precise and perfectly orchestrated. First, after boarding, you’ll have a moment to relax. Then comes the surprise with your congratulatory message.

This happens after about 5 minutes.

So it's neither too early nor too late, which means you still have plenty of time ahead of you to make the gondola ride a truly special moment in your life.

The Most Beautiful of All Routes

We've selected one of the most beautiful gondola routes through Venice for you. Right in the heart of Venice's historic center. Of course, the popular Grand Canal is also part of the route.

The gondola ride along the Grand Canal is long enough for you to soak up the special atmosphere and charm, but not so long that you’re unnecessarily exposed to the stinking diesel fumes from the vaporetto and the rough waves on the canal.

Incidentally, like our other customers, you’ll especially enjoy and take in the ride through the quiet, idyllic canals and under the numerous small bridges.

The gondola tour is guaranteed to take you through Venice’s historic center. However, depending on the gondolier’s schedule, the tour will either start and end at St. Mark’s Square or on the Grand Canal near the Rialto Bridge. You’ll receive an email in advance letting you know where the boarding and disembarking points are for your tour.

There are customers who know exactly what they want.

You book the ride and send us the banner text.

You pay right away, and we'll order the banner immediately.
Then everything will be taken care of within a few days.

However, there are also customers who are still unsure.
They don't know yet exactly which day or what time they want to take the gondola ride.

Some customers are still unsure about the "Transparent Text" feature as well.
Then several emails go back and forth between us and the customer, and valuable time slips away.

This is because we do not send the banner to print until payment has been received.
And the company just needs a few days to manufacture and deliver the product.

The only scheduling bottleneck is the company in Venice that prints the custom banner. It takes the company a few days to print and deliver it. Unfortunately, this has been the case for many years.

Although we keep trying to speed up the printing process, this bottleneck persists.

Up until now, it's almost always been possible to get an appointment with us and a free gondola.

The Best Time of Day—The Best Light

Every gondola ride here in Venice takes you through narrow, romantic canals—2 meters wide and 3 stories high. The later it gets in the evening, the darker it becomes.

And in low light, the camera's automatic settings respond by using a wider aperture and slower shutter speeds. A wider aperture results in a shallower depth of field, and a slower shutter speed can cause camera shake.

The later it gets, the worse the picture quality.

We strongly advise you not to start your trip too late. Here in Venice, it gets dark at the same time as it does where you live. So use the lighting conditions where you live as a guide.

It's best to plan the time of your gondola ride based on the sunset.

The Weather

The gondolas run year-round. In any weather. Even when it rains.

If it rains, you have the following options:
– They go out even though it's raining. (They buy an umbrella or a plastic raincoat beforehand.)
– You can reschedule by 1, 2, or 3 hours. In other words, you can leave earlier or later that day.

– You'll move it up or back by one day—either one day earlier or one day later.
