For many visitors staying in Cavallino-Treporti or traveling by RV, Punta Sabbioni is the main hub for the trip to Venice. Crossing the lagoon by boat is not only the most direct route, but also offers you an impressive view of the city’s skyline and St. Mark’s Square even as you’re on your way there.

Most vacationers visiting the Adriatic coast—in Lignano, Bibione, Caorle, and Jesolo—also take advantage of this perfect way to travel to Venice. Bonus: Parking in Punta Sabbioni costs only a fraction of what it costs to park in a parking garage in Venice.

To ensure that your crossing goes smoothly, we've provided all the essential information here about on-site parking options and the various ferry lines operated by the ACTV and barrier-free access to the piers. This way, you can arrive safely and stress-free right in the historic center of Venice.

The Significance of Punta Sabbioni

Although Punta Sabbioni is a very small town on the western tip of the peninsula Cavallino-Treporti ...it plays a central role in traffic to Venice. The name is derived from Italian: Punta stands for excellence and Sabbia for "sand"—so in German, the place name simply means „sandy tip“.

An important hub for commuters

There is a practical reason why this small town has such excellent public transportation connections: Many people who live on the approximately 10-kilometer-long peninsula commute to Venice for work every day.

  • High-density timing: The boats run very frequently, usually every 30 minutes.

And in all these years, I’ve never had a problem. I’ve also never heard of a problem. It’s in the parking lot operators’ best interest to ensure safety.

Price Differences and Target Audiences

These private boats are used particularly frequently for group trips and school field trips, since the fare is often cheaper than on public transportation:

What You Should Keep in Mind When Using This Service

If you are considering using a private service, please keep the following points in mind:

  • Seasonal operating hours: These boats often operate only during peak travel seasons („premium times“), when demand is correspondingly high.
  • Destination: Private boats in Venice usually dock a little farther from the city center than the public boats.
