Enjoy the most beautiful palazzi along the Grand Canal

The photo shows a typical boat (vaporetto) used on Line 1. It travels right down the middle of the Grand Canal. The seats at the front are especially popular. Great view, magnificent panorama, and very crowded. Unfortunately, there are NO reserved seats. First come, first served.

As you can see here on the map, Line 1 runs right through the heart of Venice, along the entire length of the Grand Canal. The route begins in the north of the city at Piazzale Roma and ends in the south at the S.M.E. stop on the Lido. It is extremely popular with both locals and tourists. Since there is NO continuous walkway (quay) along the Grand Canal, visitors to this city must take a vaporetto. A one-way ticket costs 9.50 euros. By comparison, a private water taxi costs about 100 euros.

An absolute must-see for every visitor:

Travel time From Piazzale Roma to the Lido: 65 minutes.

Travel time From Piazzale Roma to St. Mark's Square: 44 minutes.

Interval: During the day, a new vaporetto arrives every 12 minutes

Price: 9.50 euros per person per ride, max. 75 minutes.
